WELCOME TO THE ANCIENT ELEMENTAL AND THE WORK OF STEPH MAC
My work is spiritual, but it is not a religion.
For transparency, it is important to me that I am clear with you about the cosmologies, beliefs and frameworks within which I work.
I believe this helps both of us feel safe when working together and exploring spiritual mysteries.
My work is a contemporary form of embodied, initiatory spirituality.
It draws from ancient symbolism, New Age consciousness work, esotericism, divine feminine spirituality, Jungian-inspired depth work, mysticism, creative expression, intuitive practice and self-leadership.
IT SAYS:
1. Consciousness is primary.
2. The self contains a divine or infinite essence.
3. Reality is shaped through consciousness and embodiment.
4. Personal transformation can involve remembering one’s higher nature.
5. The individual can become a conscious creator rather than merely a passive participant in life.
I do not ask you to adopt one fixed belief system, follow one sacred text, worship one authority or accept one prescribed path to truth.
I invite you into a direct and personal relationship with your own inner knowing, your body, your creative power, your choices and the mystery of being alive.
This work may overlap with different spiritual and religious traditions, but it is not the same as any of them.
________
ALIGNMENT & DIFFERENCE WITH SPIRITUAL THEOLOGY & COSMOLOGIES
The purpose of sharing this passage is to be crystal clear about my world should you enter into it.
1. BUDDHISM
Alignment: Dissolving attachment to the constructed self. Releasing identification and unconscious patterns. Awareness of suffering, presence and compassion.
Difference: I work with the void and goddess consciousness. I do not teach Buddhism, the Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path or a Buddhist lineage.
2. CHRISTIANITY
Alignment: Surrender. Compassion. Humility. Love. Death and rebirth. Transformation through spiritual devotion.
Difference: I do not teach salvation through Jesus Christ, one sacred text or one religious authority. I explore the sacred through the body, nature, creativity, relationships and direct experience. I work with spiritual death and rebirth as the dissolution of identity and the emergence of deeper consciousness.
3. HINDUISM
Alignment: Divine consciousness. Higher self. Spiritual awakening. Liberation from limited identity. The connection between the individual and the greater whole. The possibility that the deepest self is more than the personality.
Difference: I do not represent a specific Hindu lineage, scripture, deity system or philosophical school. I do not teach Hinduism, yoga philosophy, karma or reincarnation as a complete religious framework.
4. TAOISM
Alignment: Flow. Balance. Surrender. Working with life rather than constantly forcing it. Allowing the next movement to emerge naturally.
Difference: I include shadow, desire, leadership, business and spiritual rebirth. I do not teach Taoism or represent a formal Taoist lineage.
5. INDIGENOUS AND EARTH-BASED SPIRITUALITY
Alignment: Reverence for nature. The elements. Cycles. The body as a source of wisdom. The symbolic intelligence of the natural world. Life, death and regeneration.
Difference: I do not represent or practise any specific Indigenous tradition, Māori tradition, cultural lineage or ceremonial system. I work with fire, water, earth and air as contemporary spiritual and psychological symbols.
6. GODDESS SPIRITUALITY
Alignment: Feminine power. Creation. Embodiment. Cycles. Intuition. Rebirth. Sovereignty.
Difference: I do not require devotion to one goddess, pantheon or religious system. I do not reduce the feminine to softness, beauty, nurturing or receptivity.
7. THE GREAT MOTHER
Alignment: Creation. Nourishment. Gestation. Death. Regeneration.
Difference: I do not teach one historical Great Mother religion or fixed theology. I do not claim that all cultures understand the Great Mother in the same way.
8. ESOTERICISM
Alignment: Hidden knowledge. Ancient symbolism. Initiation. Ritual. Alchemy. Archetypes. Correspondence. Inner transformation.
Difference: I do not claim an unbroken lineage from an ancient mystery school or formal esoteric order.
9. MYSTICISM
Alignment: Direct experience of the sacred. Inner knowing. Unity. Surrender. The void. Mystery. Connection with something greater than the individual self.
Difference: I do not follow one established mystical religion. I do not claim that my spiritual experiences are the only truth.
10. NEW AGE SPIRITUALITY
Alignment: Higher self. Source consciousness. Energy. Manifestation. Personal evolution. Conscious creation. Spiritual awakening.
Difference: I do not teach positive thinking as a way to force outcomes. I do not use spirituality to bypass pain, grief, shadow or accountability.
11. JUNGIAN-INSPIRED DEPTH WORK
Alignment: Shadow work. Archetypes. Symbolism. Unconscious patterns. Projection. Inner parts. Psychological integration. Becoming more whole.
Difference: I am not a clinical psychologist or Jungian analyst. I do not diagnose mental health conditions. I do not present spiritual guidance as a replacement for therapy. I may experience an archetype as a psychological pattern, spiritual presence, creative symbol or all of these at once.
12 GNOSTICISM
Alignment: Direct inner knowing. The divine spark within. Liberation from false identity and illusion. Spiritual awakening through inner experience. The idea that truth is encountered rather than merely believed.
Difference: I do not teach Gnosticism as a religion, doctrine or historical belief system. I do not require belief in specific Gnostic texts, cosmologies, archons or theological interpretations. I work with the living experience of inner knowing, self-dissolution, embodiment and creative sovereignty. I draw from the spirit of Gnostic inquiry without claiming to represent Gnostic tradition.
13 SHAMANISM
Alignment: Journeying beyond ordinary consciousness. Relationship with the unseen. Soul work, healing and reclamation. Nature, the elements and the living world. Descent, transformation and return. The body as a site of wisdom.
Difference: I do not claim to be a shaman or represent a specific Indigenous, cultural or ancestral shamanic lineage. I do not teach or perform traditional shamanic ceremonies belonging to another culture. I use journeying, ritual, nature connection, symbolism and soul work within a contemporary mystical framework. I approach these themes with respect, humility and clear boundaries around cultural lineage.

_____.
I’m Steph Macdonald.
I’m a mystic, spiritual guide, soul doula, artist and creative strategist.
My work is for people who are ready to move beyond surface-level spirituality, forced positivity and the constant pressure to become someone more acceptable.
This is a space for deep transformation, self-leadership, ancient symbolism, embodiment and honest spiritual inquiry.
Together, we explore the beliefs, identities, attachments, patterns, ambitions, relationships and expectations shaping your life.
We bring awareness to what is true, what is inherited, what is performative and what is ready to die.
This is spiritual work, but it is not separate from your real life.
It can meet you in your business, creative work, relationships, leadership, body, sexuality, money, purpose, visibility, decision-making and sense of self.
There may be moments of clarity, expansion, surrender, chaos and rebirth.
My work is not here to convert you and I am not here to make you believe what I believe.
It is here for those who feel called into deeper self-knowledge, creative sovereignty, embodied spirituality and a more honest relationship with their own inner truth.
This is The Ancient Elemental. A place for those who are ready to move beyond spiritual performance and begin living what they know.
